I can see the light at the end of the tunnel...

...or better yet the light in the middle of the island, at the end of the river :) WHATEVER....

ANYWAAAAY

FINALLY some answers! We finally find out why Jacob brought them there and their "purpose" or "prerequisites" for becoming a candidate. They had an emptyness, a sad existence in their lives. And now we know why some were crossed off. Now im going to try to fall asleep thinking of why each person was crossed off. Kate was explained because she became a Mother (admittance: i drew a tear on that one!) It is still a shame and am still curious like Kate was about why most of them then had to die?!? Was it to make good tv, was it because at the very end before they died they had fullfilment of some magnitude? (sorry i cant come up with an example of that at the moment - can anyone?

I KNEW Jack would totally step up to be the Protector. And although Sawyer was trying to be snarky, he hit the nail on the head with Jack's "God Complex". Is anyone else curious about the epiphany look that jack gave jacob after he drank from the cup? And now Jack is just like Jacob (im assuming this means he will not age and cant be killed)

I am very curious as to how they are going to explain the way that the Smoke Monster can be killed/defeated! Although he is not REALLY the bad guy, I have really come to like the complexity of LOCKE, his journey and his overall character.

The flashsideways has now become really really interesting? So what, now Hurley and Desmond know whats going on? We know that Desmond, Hurley, Kate, Sayid, Miles, and Jack will be at this concert. Miles' dad also has something to do with it, and since he is that freaky Dharma Initiative Scientist I wonder if they are going to somehow be beamed to the island? Or all mysteriously remember the other life. *i heard a rumor that there would be a scene (well now its obvious its during the finale) that EVERY character since the beginning would be in one scene. Now im thinking it will be at this concert!

Does Hurley know everything that is going on? He knew Anna-Lucia right off! (p.s i loved anna lucia, the writers of this show had to do some hell of a storyline tweak when she was arrested back in 2005!)

WHO IS JACK'S SON'S MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????? Juliet? Anna-Lucia? That australian chick that helped them get connected with the freighter?

I cant wait til sunday, but i know it will be bitter-sweet. I also was disappointed that since i DVR'd LOST i was too late to text a "farewell message" to be played during the finale. But then again that maybe a good thing because then Id be looking for my message instead of paying attention.

Ok so there wasnt much insight tonight because, well, we had a bunch of stuff answered. So i guess we could just open this up to opinions and our own "farewell" messages to LOST!
oh...::sniff-sniff:: what are we gonna blog about next week? :(
it makes me sad that I didnt create this blog seasons ago...well it was fun while it lasted!

happy posting!

  1. I agree that there's not too much 'but what does it all mean??' from this episode. I like Jack as the new Jacob, especially since my money was on him for taking over. I'm rarely right about anything that happens on this show. I liked the scene around the fire and getting some answers from Jacob. I thought Kate being crossed off for being a mother was a really sweet, too, and that they were all brought to the island because of their loneliness was interesting. I was worried throughout that scene that Jacob's fire was going to go out and he was going to poof away before answering any questions.

I'm not sure how I feel about what happened with Ben and Smokey. After the Ben-centric episode this season (which was one of my favorites), I thought he had come to some peace with what happened with Alex. But I guess he's still harboring some very bad feelings. He used Smokey to get revenge on Whidmore. While I understand his motivations, I was still disappointed that he regressed, and wonder how that will play out with the rest of our characters.

So it looks like this is going to come down to Smokey vs. Jack and a destroy the island vs. keeping the island safe thing. I'm looking forward to how this all ends up, and I can't believe it's in less than a week! Does anybody have any Lost parties planned? I'll probably be drinking a little Dharma wine by myself :)

PS - Was anyone else LOLing at Miles peace-ing out when Smokey was on his way to Dharmaville? I have a feeling I would have been doing the same thing. Ha.

  2. I love Miles! I was cracking up at his "I was here 30 years before you, otherwise known as last week."

I really liked this episode, I felt as if we were finally being propelled towards the end. C, that will be awesome to see all of the characters together again! Those brief scenes with Charlie a few weeks ago made me remember how much I loved him.

I think that it will not be as simple as last night re: Jack becoming the new Jacob. I have a feeling it will ultimately end with Ben as the protector. This is mostly b/c the island seems to be about destiny, not choice...but I can't wait to see what happens.

I was disappointed that Widmore was killed off, I felt like he was a character we really could have seen explored more as to why he returned to the island, his obsession with it, etc. However, for all that, we had better see Penny and Desmond reunited at the end. I'm not a sappy person, but they are SO great together, I loved their story throughout the whole show.

I thought it was interesting how Ben started flashing back to the other world when Desmond was punching home...do people need to be feeling something "extreme" in order to remember the other world (i.e. Ben getting punched, Locke being hit, Hurley being kissed).

Sidenote - they are re-airing the 2 hour pilot on Saturday at 8 pm. I'm TIVO'ing it to watch after the finale to see what was there all along and also to remind me of how the pilot totally got me hooked on this fantastic show!

In any respect, I am so excited for Sunday. My friends and I are having a potluck starting at 7, so we can watch the special that airs before the finale. Does anyone else have any plans?

  3. What if.... Jack Kills Smokey and Ben takes over Smokey's role?!?

  4. wait wait...there is a special right before the finale? I thought the finale itself starts at 7pm? This would help me out alot since Tommy's bedtime is between 8 and 8:30 and im already trying to figure out how to handle that because i wanna watch the show live. If i DVR it and watch it after he goes to bed ill be lagged behind on the whoooole experience!!

as far as any special plans--- nothing really. I think Justin and I will just have a special dinner. I was trying to plan and see if I could make a LOST-Themed meal but then Justin reminded me that it would just consist of mangos, water and bananas! ha!

theen you are really on top of these logisitics. I put you in charge.

  5. C, I think your LOST themed meal sounds delicious! But maybe more of a snack, haha. Yes, 7 pm - 9 pm is a special with a review of the show's history and interviews with cast members. Actual finale is 9 - 11:30 p.m. Then a half hour break for the local news, and starting at 12:05 am is Jimmy Kimmel Live, which will have interviews with the two producers/writes/creators and the cast, in Hawaii. We got it down to a science because we planned our night around it all :-)

Hopefully this means you will have time to put Tommy down and concentrate on the finale! Make sure to have a talk with the nugget about how important those couple of hours are, LOL.

Meg, your idea blows my mind, haha. I do sort of hope that Ben retains some of the good we've seen in him, though. Can't wait to see it play out!

  6. Claudette, you can make boar for dinner!!

Ah, this episode was so good. I am so pissed at Ben, mostly because I actually started to like him. Grrr.

I agree that if Desmond and Penny don't get reunited (and it feels so goo-ood) it will be sorely disappointing. Do you think that when everyone is in the same place, that the two parallel worlds will merge? And will Walt and Aaron play a role in the finale? I'm so glad we don't have to wait a full week, that would be torture!

One more convoluted thought: it makes me sad that Jack has such a nice life in the Flash-sideways. Yeah, he's divorced, but he also has this amazing son, and he just met his sister. He seems really happy. Which makes me think that maybe his life wouldn't have been empty if Jacob hadn't interfered. I'm curious to see who his baby's mamma is.

  7. Ok, my only addition is that Ben could easily take over as the smoke monster as he "lost his innocence" in the episode where Sayid shot him and he was then taken to the special temple of the Others. I am assuming that the water that they put him in had a little of the "light" water that MIB was thrown into. Also, Sayid was in the same water earlier in the season and that weird temple guy that sometimes spoke English and sometimes didn't said that Sayid was gone and that darkness would take over him. Now, one would think that the "weird temple guy" would know whether or not his temple water did that to people so I could be way off. Anyway, my money is on Ben as the smoke monster.
So it never occurred to me that the "baby's mamma" wouldn't be his ex-wife from real time (can't remember her name - the woman that he "fixed").

Yes, what the heck....Walt, Aaron? That is my only annoyance really.

I've been re-watching from the beginning with a friend who is new to the show. We just finished the season 2 finale where Michael and Walt leave on the boat. Ben was talking about "getting more than we expected when we got Walt". What were they doing with him? Also, from way back when: the list that had Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hugo...obviously Jack they needed to operate on Ben, but aside from just using Kate and Sawyer for leverage to get Jack to operate (ie cage sex video), why were they on "the list".

  8. Kristen, I think you hit the nail on the head. They made a list because that's what they do, they are list fanatics. They put Hurley on it to run and tell everyone to stay away, Jack was there to operate, and Kate and Sawyer were there to convince Jack to operate.
