Some Kind of KWONderful!

bahhh! Again we are left with Jin and Sun UNunited. I will say however, the pictures shown to Jin of his little girl -- TEARJERKER.

Ok so observations:
firstly, ive begun to notice a subliminal wardrobe on the survivors. Notice: that some members of our beloved survivors are donning dark/variation of black clothing; Sayid, Smoke-Locke, Sawyer, Claire,...even Richard and Jack - HMMMM.
Both Kwons, even Kate are wearing light colored clothing. The only one wearing a color of distinction is Hurley. This brings me to think, are those with dark clothing already in someway "claimed" by Smoke-Locke? With these writers, this kinda stuff is rarely a coinsidence.

TomAYto - TomAHto

i loooooved the symbolism behind the "stubborn" tomato. It can represent so many things. Because it came from the garden that Sun created, the tomato can represent the fact that she bore the "fruit" of her love, Jin. (Lets remember the island for some reason works as a super contraceptive) Or does the tomato represent both Jin & Sun in their determination to find each other and to bloom under severe environmental factors?

Now here is my new idea on the time-travel/flash sideways...
what if the actual TIME of the flashsideways is later on. Ok ok let me rephrase better. I know it has been explained that the flashsideways represent what would have happened had the plane landed safely at LAX airport and not crashed. So what Im saying is that that doesnt necessarily mean that the flashsideways pick up exactly at the time that the plane "safely landed". You follow?
Example: In tonights flashsideways; Jin and Sun werent even married....but they were when they were on the plane that crashed on the island. Therefore there MUST be a difference timeframe of these flashsideways? Yes? Maybe?
THOUGHTS?!

Now i bring to the table what is to be made of this whole new set of "others"
I dont think I fully trust Charles Widmore. Again I feel this is turning into a big "he said-she said" and I dont know whom to believe. So i will open that up to the rest of you because I have no good insight on this whole Widmore/Submarine thing.

oh! and WHERE THE HECK DID DESMOND COME FROM?!?!? Is that the "package"? Yea I dunno. It makes me frustrated that the writers have said this whole season that the time for questions is over.....if that were true there would be no point of this blog.
So thats it from me ladies. Baby is down and out and I am fading fast. Cant wait to see what you think!
(P.s for those of you who are somewhat aware of my husbands incessant need to blog about Politics to fight the "injustices of liberal extremism"...he is very proud of my new Blogging :-)

  1. Claudette - I seriously think you must have been an English major...were you? Probably should know that, but I don't. We were hoping that the package was going to be Walt. "The island's not done with you yet..." from the previews for next week. Grrrr, poor Desmund. Ok, I'll throw in a little philosophy - Hume, the philosopher, was a very interesting guy, who wrote about our own perceptions of things and how we only know we exist because of our own belief that we do. A little more complicated than that, but a great last name for Desmond. Do we know what happened to Penny? I keep waiting for Widmore's son, whose name escapes me at this hour, to return. I know his mother killed him on the island, but with all of the twists I thought maybe he'd be back.
Sun pregnant and shot??? Nooooo! As Matt said to me tonight, "25 grand isn't really a lot of money to be getting all that upset about it". So was the idea that Sun was supposed to deliver the watch and the money and Jin was supposed to be her bodyguard? And in the flash sideways the idea is that Jin never asked her father for permission to date/marry Sun? Silly mistake.
I'm still hopeful about Kate being good. I have always liked her and Jack. I need to go back and re-watch the names on the wall episode, but Kate's was still on there, right? I think we all would have been surprised and would have noticed if her name hadn't been on there. Maybe their names get crossed off when they side with smoke-Locke? My desire for a happy ending really has me believing that there has to be a way for all of our long-time characters to either stay on the island or leave. There are some that really would be better off staying...in fact, where are Rose and her dentist husband (yes, my brain starts slowly shutting down at 10pm and I can't remember his name at all by 11:30)?
Claudette, I wish I had the insight that you have into this show...I spend most of my time watching it saying, "but wait..." and then trying to catch up ;-)
I am STILL waiting for the scene we saw being filmed. I can tell you that at some point they'll be back at their beach and Lapedis and Richard will be together and Myles will be there too. Not very helpful, I know.
Hmmmm, wonder if there's some sort of way for all of us to get together and have a LOST weekend? I suppose that's why we have the internet, but it would be so much better in person and with popcorn!

  2. Hi guys... just finished reading through all the posts. LOVE the blog idea Claudette, but please no deadlines or else I'm screwed.

I finally get to throw my two cents in... they're not worth much because I, too, have been sitting here this season puzzled! I am watching the last season over again as we speak.

To answer Kristen's question about Kate's name on the ceiling. Her name was missing.. I've read that maybe all the candidates are men, so that would mean the KWON would be referring to Jin. We also found out that Claire wasn't listed tonight, right? Claudette, I think you and I talked about this one.

As for the parallel lives things, I've talked to some of my LOST fan students about this and they have some surprisingly good theories. We see that it is impossible that this "other life" is the "what would've happened" if Oceanic 815 didn't crash for many reasons. (Here, I was thinking that Sawyer and Miles knew each other the whole time and faked it, but now I see the light). One being what we witnessed tonight with Sun and Jin... another being that Jack had a son... Sawyer and Miles partners etc etc.

I don't know how exactly, but it all goes back to when Juliet made the bomb go off at the end of last season. We found out in this season that "it worked." So what year was that happening in? It changed waaaay more than just the plane crash, so I guess the parallel lives thing is the path they would be on from that year forward. I don't know... Any other thoughts on this one?

Where has Farraday been btw? He always seems to clear things up for me haha.

P.S. If my favorite show turns out to be some religious battle between good and evil, I will be LIVID.

P.P.S. Claudette you are way more observant than me- I saw a tomato and thought oooh... something grew in her garden. LOL

  3. I think Desmond is really important regarding the resolution of this show, especially because of his unique time-traveling/seeing into the future abilities. He was on Oceanic in the Sideways timeline for a few minutes. I'm not completely convinced that he wasn't just popping in to make sure everybody was on track in the alternate timeline, as opposed to being on the whole flight. Also, it sure looked like Sayid got some of his feelings back when he saw Desmond on the dock(I also laughed after he told Fake Locke he couldn't feel pain and was all "oooowww" when he got hit with that dart).

I'm very worried about Sun and Jin. I love them and if they don't get back together, I will be so sad. I'm particularly nervous about Sun getting on that boat with Jack to go to the other island. I have a feeling they are going to encounter the other castaways who were flashing through time and were shooting at each other. What if Sun gets shot on the island like she was in Sideways land? I just don't like where this could lead :(

This is nothing significant I'm sure, but did you notice some of the lines used last night were from previous episodes...What's done is done, Whatever happens, happens?

Fake Locke is so scary. Terry O'Quinn is doing an amazing job being creepy.

  4. You guys are so freaking smart! I love reading your comments. One thing that I have noticed and also read about is that one of the main differences between the sideways reality and the current reality is that in the sideways reality, Jacob never "touched" them...so they have all made different choices in life (i.e. Jacob never gave Sawyer the pen at his parents' funeral, so he never wrote that letter to Anthony Cooper...etc etc). I thought that was interesting. Also, they have all looked into mirrors/reflections of themselves in the sideways reality. Sawyer smashed the mirror in his episode, don't know what that means, but I think that may somehow come up again.

K10, thanks for sharing that about "Hume." Very interesting (I know, I keep writing "interesting" - but it is, haha). I think many of their names mean something (Shepherd & Locke for example). I hope that nothing has happened to Penny and Charlie, their baby, but I"m glad to see Desmond back on the show because I love him! I also think he is key to the story.

One of the things I find thought provoking is how none of them are black-and-white good or evil - not Jack, Locke (well, the Locke we know), Man in Black, etc. I think Widmore is one of the more complex characters on the show, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how he fits in and whether we have been assuming him to be evil this whole time, but maybe he will save them all. Or not. Haha

Sorry I have nothing really to add, I just like spewing out my rambled thoughts and reading yours!

  5. You're right; so many of the names could represent other things. The writers obviously did their homework. I come across so many 'coincidences' in my philosophy class (Rousseau, Hume, and Locke, for example) or did you know that there was a famous physicist who studied electromagnetism, named Faraday? I think I did see him in the previews for upcoming episodes, btw! Did anyone else think that the tomato that Jack gave Sun represented the apple from the Garden of Eden? He used it to get her to follow him to the other island. Although, I just can't believe that Jack is on the evil side....

  6. I just read this online (Washingtonpost.com has an online chat about Lost every Weds, FYI) and thought I would post it:

Maybe the previous world (the flashbacks we've seen for five seasons) was actually MIB's reality -- the world where Jack was a drug addict, Sawyer a criminal, Kate a killer, etc. And Sideways World is the world free of MIB's influence, so the characters are (mostly) in better places: Hurley is a happy philanthropist, Sawyer is a cop, Kate never killed her dad, Jack isn't a drug addict, etc...

I think that's a pretty out there theory, but also a really intriguing one- but I don't know how I'd feel if everything we have believed/been told for 5 years was all an "alternate," for lack of a better word, reality. You feel like you really know these characters at this point, you know? Anyways, just thought I'd throw it out there!

  7. K-10: I do remember back in the ole days of "humm II" learning about Locke being some sort of philosopher maybe? And thanks for the compliment but I was never an English major. I dont really even like writing that much. What made you think so?

Ok so i also remembered another point that I had thought about last night:
Is it possible that the flashsideways may become part of the reality we have seen on the island. Or that some of the things that happened to our beloved Survivors would have happened either way (i.e in an alternate universe as well as the "regular" universe). In last nights episode when Jin shot Mikail - gruesomely might I add - Mikail was shot in the eye....now we must remember when we first met Mikail on the island he had a PATCH?!?! So...what can we make of that? That in some way some how he would have lost his eye no-matter what. And Sun would have been 'destined' to be pregnant by Jin. Which brings me to a new point:

It would seem our fearless leader Jack has finally drank the Kool-aid. When he was in the garden with Sun, he was giving her the same "we're meant to be here" speech that Locke tried to give him for the last 5years. Only now he actually believes it but is painting it a differnt color; not so much destiny, but that they are there as "candidates"

Athena: on your post--- if this whole thing has been a play on what would have happened HAD the MIB been release and the alternate life IS the real life...i will be LIVID!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Ok, first let me say that Claudette's title this week is friggin awesome. As is her attention to detail.

I have to agree with Athena in that Jacob never influenced the characters in the reality where the island was sunk into the sea (the flash sideways).

What if this current reality on the island goes full circle into giving Faraday the idea to blow up the island with the nuke? Desmond was connected to Faraday in that Desmond was Faraday's constant (in time travel). So, Jacob's last "play" in this war is to have Desmond communicate to the Faraday in the 70s that the island needs to be blown up so that MIB can NEVER get off the island, once and for all. Killing both Jacob and MIB at the same time and therefore ending forever the war.

Also remember that in the Flash Sideways, Faraday would have never been born and Penny would not have known her father.

    ...

Ok, that was definitely a tangent, if the Kwons don't get reunited I am going to cry.

  9. Melissa, no clue about anything you wrote after the words "also remember"... how do you know these things??!

Also, just a thought for you guys... I'm watching Season 5 (as I mentioned in my last post). Don't know if you guys recall the scene where Ben goes to be "judged" by the smoke monster... Locke disappears (proving even more that he is the smoke monster) AND Alex pops up! She tells Ben to do everything Locke says or she will hunt him down.

So now my guess is that this smoke monster can take on the form of ANYONE?!? Because obviously it was not the real Alex (since she was dead).

    So the question now remains...
Who else has the smoke monster taken the form of??? Christian Shepard would be one guess of mine, but anyone else I'm not sure.

    Melissa

  10. Melissa: Daniel Faraday is the son of Ellie Hawking and Penny is the daughter of Widmore. Both of whom would have died if the island blew up in the 70s. Faraday wasn't born yet (Ellie was preggers w him when she shot the adult him, i believe) and Penny was born off island, so could have already been born and safe and sound off island.

MIB also turned into Richard's wife. I think he needs something personal to do it, because it was after taking the cross that he was able to do it.

  11. Remember Illana said that he the smoke monster cannot change to look like other people anymore though; he is now stuck being Locke.... Not sure why,,,

  12. Melissa: I Loooove your theory in that the MIB can only claim a persona if they have something personal of theirs! GENIUS!

and thanks for the kudos on my blogging! =)
